1-Active ingredient
"Nepafenac 1mg"
2-pharmacological action:-
*after topical occular dosing nepafenac penterates the cornea &is converted by occular tissue hydrolases to amefenac "NSAID"
*amefenac is thaught to inhibt the action of prostaglandin H synthase "cycloxydenase "an enzyme required for prostaglandin production.
3-Indication &usage
Zetrafenac indicated for treatment of
pain ,inflammation associated with cataract surgery.
4-Dosage &Administration:-
*recommended dosing:-
One drop of zetrafenac should be applied to the affected eye 3 times daily begining 1day prior to cataract surgery ,continued on the day of surgery &through the 1st 2
weeks of the postoperative period
*use with other topical ophthalmic medications.
*zetrafenac may be administered in conjuction with other topical ophthalmic medications such ad beta blockers ,carbonic anhydrase inhibitors,
Alpha agonist,cycloplegics &mydriatics .
5-contraindications:-
-contraindicated in payient with previously demonstrated hypersensitivity to any of the ingredient in the formula or to other NSAID
6-pregnancy &lactation
pregnancy category C
Zetrafenac in late pregnabcy should be avoided
nursing woman
-zetrafenac is excreted in the milk of lactating rats .it is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk Sooooo Caution should be exercised .
7-patient counseling information:-
*slow or delayed healing
"Patients should be informed of the possibility that slow or delayed healing may occur while using nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug
*avoiding contamination of the product
"Patient should be instructed to avoid allowing the tip of the dispensing container to contact eye or surrounding structures because this could cause the tip to become contaminated by common bacteria known to cause occular infections.
"Serious damage to the eye &subsequent loss of vision may result from using contaminated solutions.
*contact lens wear
"Zetrafenac shouldn't be administered while wearing cintact lens.
*concomitant topical occular therapy
"If more than topical ophthalmic medication is being used ,the medicines must be administered at least 5minuet apart.
*shake the bottle well before use
